la_biblioteca Like the Mike Tice choice. I think the familiarity is what the offense needs, and given that he's an O-line specialist (which is our main issue right now along with WR), I think it'll help the line continually progress over the years. Good chocie.
01/06/2012 - 5:56pm Respond Show all 7 comments I'm curious though, does Tice have any experience calling plays? The offense is supposed to be so deep and complex as it is, and the position of OC is almost like a chess match against the other teams DC that I'm worried he wont be up to calling the right plays and become predictable. 01/07/2012 - 1:17am I am thrilled to give him a shot. I think he will handle the realities of soldiers' field better than Martz. Who was his OC in Minny? How much input did he have? He put up some big #s. I had been hoping for Tice all season. I hope he has put his stamp on the line, but I wanted and expected this change. 01/07/2012 - 11:28am Brian Billick the former HC of the Baltimore Ravens was his OC. They actually broke a league record of most consecutive games of more than 300 yards offense. But don't get pass happy, Tice likes to run the ball. 01/07/2012 - 1:55pm That's good news then, 'cause we're certainly gonna need the running game next season. I mean as much as I hate the fact that they didn't actually search for someone outside of the organization, I feel good about Tice. If we get a good WR or two in the draft, it'll be even better. Still, I'm at a point where I've stopped having any faith in the FO and upper management to actually make the right decisions. 01/07/2012 - 2:40pm Tice is awesome. I can't say enough about the guy. He's a players coach, respected by the entire team. His resume speaks for itself. He produced 5 different Offensive Linemen to ProBowls in Min. Put together an OLine in Jax that set franchise rushing records. And managed to patch our Oline together enough to earn Forte a ProBowl selection this season. For Bears fans that love the running game, next year should be our season. Now he just has to find a QB coach that will mesh with Cutty. 01/07/2012 - 3:09pm Hopefully he has as much say in the draft like martz did. He knows talent. My only two concerns are: how much different will the playbook be because then they have to learn a whole new system (which stunts the offense's progress even more) and two, Tice has no exp. as a o coordinator. Can we trust him to make the right calls? 01/07/2012 - 6:08pm I'm a little disappointed they didn't get anyone, but this reminds me of the last time they were looking for an OC and DC and couldn't get anyone because people were unsure of Lovie's tenure. This seems similar with everyone knowing he's out if they don't produce next year. Billick had some interesting compliments towards Tice making it seem that if given the chance Tice could put together a good game plan and maybe even a good playbook but my worry still is if he can call up the right plays at the right times. I guess from what I've read Tice did do some play calling while head coach in Minny so that's good to know, but it's the pressure situations that scare me. Maybe this will be when Cutler is given his chance to shine and call plays from the line of scrimmage? Should be an interesting season next year to say the least. 01/08/2012 - 2:19am |

la_biblioteca Bears fans lesson of 2012: Do not ever complain about Jay Cutler's Quarterback play ever again.

la_biblioteca Not to say Angelo shouldn't have been fired, but there were some good moves too, such as:
5. Signing Julius Peppers
4. Drafting Matt Forte in the 2nd round.
3. Drafting Devin Hester in the 2nd round.
2. Trading Roosevelt Colvin for a pick to draft Lance Briggs.
1. Trading for Jay Cutler.
01/03/2012 - 4:11pm Respond Show all 5 comments Lots of good hits, but some serious, costly misses. 01/03/2012 - 4:38pm Fine, but there's more to the GM job than signing FAs to cover up your mistakes, and nothing on your list sufficiently offsets the foibles throughout Angelo's regime. There were NO 1st round Angelo picks that started at the end of the season. NONE! Where's our depth at any position? Where's the understudy for Urlacher? Where's the safeties the Cover 2 needs? How about CBs? I mean, Tillman's only got a few years left... who's gonna replace him, Bowman? F Angelo. Best thing the McCaskeys have done in my adult life. Show me a single Bears backup on defense which could start for any other team in the league and I'll eat a Grossman jersey. 01/03/2012 - 6:39pm Dude, calm yourself, I never said keeping Angelo was a good idea, I was only saying that it could've gone worse, so don't act like I'm trying to defend him. Just putting down something relatively positive, since most people are gonna do all the bashing for me. I know he was not a very good GM, but to be fair, he was not ALL bad. That's ALL I was saying. 01/03/2012 - 6:43pm library i agree. Angelo isn't a peasant, just a poor judge of first round talent. 01/04/2012 - 9:10am I am with you, mi amico. People get emotionally charged, but we have posted solid records with the Angelo/Lovie combo. Look at the Skins for an example of stacking talent that doesn't translate to wins. I have mixed emotions. Had we grabbed the Raiders new GM, I'd be feeling more comfortable right now. 01/07/2012 - 11:40am |

la_biblioteca So, prediction scores for the game? I'm going with 30-17 Bears.
Cutler will go 17-26, 245 yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT
Forte will get 24 carries for 117 yards, and a touchdown.
Robbie Gould will make 3 field goals out of 3.
Bears Defense will pick Rivers 2 times, and cause a fumble on the game.

la_biblioteca Am I the only one who doesn't understand why people hate Cutler so much? I mean, not once have I seen an interview or on-field incident where he seems "arrogant" or cocky. Personally, I prefer his demeanor compared to guys like Tom Brady who get ticked off at teammates when something goes wrong.
11/17/2011 - 7:46pm Respond Show all 4 comments I mean, I understand he hasn't exactly "Walked on air" with his performance so to speak, but I'm sick of hearing comments about what a jerk he seems to be when to me, he seems like a pretty modest, quiet guy. He doesn't do anything flashy, he just does his job and goes home. 11/17/2011 - 7:47pm The first time I heard him talk I thought he was kinda arrogant but now he reminds me of Larry Bird. Just kinda this is who I am I don't give a shit what you think. I love it now. 11/18/2011 - 2:01am Yeah he doesnt even do commercials until he wins a championship! that just tells you in what regard he holds himself. 11/18/2011 - 2:02am I love when Cutler yells at players for doing things wrong...you see it pretty much every game. They should know what they are doing and some people (kellen davis) needs to be told where to go. If you think he doesnt hold players accountable, watche the games closer because he does. Yes, he is a very humble person off that football field but he can bitch at anyone he wants for all i care, if thats what its going to take to win. 11/18/2011 - 11:31am |
