I really hope not, but it wouldn't surprise me either. I also just for some reason get the vibe that Emery isn't a huge Cutler fan, I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I really hope I'm wrong. I want Cutler to stay so bad.

I want Cutler too. I heard rumors of picking up Tebow cheap.

i would take Tebow as Cutler's backup in a heartbeat! I dont care what happened with him in New York. I saw what he did in Denver and he is a winner, pure and simple. him being behind Jay would probably elevate Jay's game to the next level, from the hype-pressure alone. Not to mention, with the better coaching Jay will receive now, this offense has sky-is-the-limit type feelings to it. Just look at the "Big 3" now: Cutler, Forte, Marshall = biggest arm in the game - most versatile back - record-shattering/best WR in franchise history after 1 season Beast. now with an actual Left Tackle, too? Only a Lovie Smith offensive coaching staff could mess this up...

I'm still believing that after the blood has cooled down, Urlacher will take the $2 mil for a last chance at a Super Bowl ring and play as a rotational linebacker. Maybe I'm just dreaming?

McClellin to MLB a no brainer, really? I disagree respectfully. Let him play the position he was drafted for, just like Hester. If they played a 3-4, yeah he could play OLB. But not in a 4-3. Position experiments rarely work out in the NFL.

Hester cont. Free up some cap space. He doesn't run North and South anymore and I'm tired of him not fair catching and letting the ball roll to the 2. Weems at this point is better. Sign Freeney with the money or give it to Izzy a reliable rotation man. Hester admitted his heart has been gone for 2 yrs. As far as I'm concerned that alone kept us out of the playoffs and wasted the last two years Urlacher had as a Bear. We would have made the playoffs for sure if Hester's heart was in it and he actually returned a couple. Maybe a Superbowl birth a chance for Urlacher to retire like R. Lewis on top. His attitude disgusts me and I who own two Hester jerseys am sickened at the thought of keeping him. Reminds me of Kanye West. Too full of himself. I say good riddens. See ya, go mess up someone else's team. I THINK how many times I sat on a punt or kick off just excited and hopeful he would bust one out. Just to see him run backwards, let it role to the two yard line or just not run hard. He is done! Hester, if you are reading this "go fair catch or run side to side on the freeway LOSER!" Sorry guys, had to vent. I've invested to much into believing in this individual who needs a speech therapists badly.

I think Hester deserves at least one more chance to prove himself. We don't know what goes on inside of a players head. We know that he highly values his family and you can't blame him if he want's to spend more time with them. But I think now that he will be strictly on return duties that he will have improvement and look like the Hester we once knew. WR was not natural for him. If I was Emery, I would see if he is able to brush up on his CB skills.

(ctd.) And don't even get me started on the whole 'he disrespects fans' stuff, the guy just tells it like it is. If you remember when he said he didn't care what fans thought, it was after the Houston game when people were giving him crap for congratulating Danieal Manning on picking a pass. Haters gonna hate, I've played football against guys who are good friends and I've lost against them and congratulated them in-game after a good play. It's called friendship.

I'd much rather have someone like him who gets mad and calls people out for their BS than some media friendly twitter pro (Or some religious nut who dates fake people online, damn I hope they don't intend to draft Te'o now). Urlacher is tough and has personality, which is why he's a leader.

So with that out of the way, I think the evaluation of Urlacher not being brought back should be entirely based on his use to the team vs. his costs. Now the question is really: How much do you think he has left in the tank, and will he be healthy enough to play a full season at 100%? Highly subjective I'd say, but the fact that he was kept out of a lot of practices last year both before and during the season indicates that his health over 16+ games would likely be a problem again. He's also obviously not as fast as he used to be, which is a concern for a Tampa 2 MLB especially.

Still, his instincts and experience are real plusses. His tackling and ball skills are more than solid. The
chemistry he brought as the leader of the defense was undeniable.

What is he worth as a player objectively? Hard to say, but probably not much more than the 2 mil that the Bears offered. What is he worth as a player ON THIS TEAM though? I'd say definitely more than 2 million. Maybe not the 6.5 million he reportedly asked for as a negotiation basis, but I don't think he expected to get that much.

Regardless of what he asked for, I think the Bears really didn't want him. They basically said "Take minimum veteran's pay or GTFO". Now, what do the Bears plan to do in the future? They wouldn't have let him go unless they had a plan for what's to come next. I hope. Are they planning to rely more on offense and save defensive cap space? Or is there a star LB they are particularly targeting in the draft or free agency, or via trade? Or are they just so tight under the salary cap they felt they just simply could not afford to offer more?

Like I said, I find it hard to strongly agree or disagree with Urlacher's release. It certainly makes sense, but then again it would have made some sense to keep him, at least in my opinion. How much do you think he was worth / should have been worth to the Bears?

the thing that gets me here is that London Fletcher, at 37 years old, had an AMAZING season last year. Urlacher, what, just turned 35? and he hasn't had a year like that since when...? It would be inconceivable to believe he'd turn his health around enough to play a full season comparable to Fletcher's last year. Its time for Peanut, Briggs, Melton, and Peppers to take this Defense over and lead. Be like the '86 Bears D and show that even without your "leader" (in that case Buddy Ryan) you can be better. Bear Down!

Dude lance briggs gets paid 6 mil on average a little over . Urlacher wanted 5.5 mil that's insane , if you look at it in a football view the bears did what's best. Overpaying for a once great player is the not the best for the team right now.

are you referring to the Zbikowski thing? I say the past is the past and every new team for a player could mean a career-revival. Safety is always a concern, even with the arrow goin' up on Conte/Wright.
