bennydallas Let's all hope that Urlacher's injury isn't as bad as it looked when it happened. If he has to miss any games next year, the Bears are in serious trouble. They need some young depth on defense in a hurry.
01/01/2012 - 3:56pm Respond Show all 5 comments This situation further proves my point that the bears need to upgrade the LB position with younger talent. I say draft a stud like Vontaze Burfict in the 1st round. We should not rely on Free Agency 01/01/2012 - 11:21pm Their saying he tore his MCL and PCL. His knees are giving out on him.my friend says we should draft Luke Kuechly out of BC. 01/02/2012 - 9:19am Luke Kuechly is a top 15 draft pick, and Vontaz is a late 1st round pick at best and would go to a team looking to take the best player left available. The Bears are stuck in the middle with #19 and need to use it to take care of their more pressing needs on offense, either line or passing (WR). ILB is not a pressing need, as Urlacher has proven he can go for a few more years, and we should wait to find his successor with a top 10 draft pick (hopefully due to trading up and not a poor season), or hope to find a diamond in the rough with a later round pick. As I see it, with 19th overall, the Bears will go for the best DE or CB available as all the best OL and 1st rounder WRs will be off the board. 01/02/2012 - 11:47am well my argument is that we should not wait next to draft a ILB. this could come back to haunt us if we dont act aggressively this year. Plus Urlacher also proved hes more prone to injury, say Lach does get injured during the season next year, Who would you trust to take over the middle? Dom DeCicco? Nick Roach? neither of those guys or anyone in the Free Agent market is the answer. We need some one now for the future. I think someone like Burfict would be great to plug in at Strongside so he could learn the calls on the fly. that way Lach could play to his strength which is coverage. I know im going on like im a Burfict fan but based on the film ive seen he fits that mold of a Chicago Bears Linebacker and lining him up with Briggs and Lach would terrorize everyone in our division 01/02/2012 - 2:42pm I can't say I've seen better of those who might go in the first two rounds, but he definitely would be a two-year project at minimum. He's also more of a blitzing LB than anything, which is not a common call for Bears' D. It just isn't a great crop of ILB this year, which is why there is talks of them trading the pick so they have two first-rounders next year. Obviously, this isn't a popular idea because of the disappointing performance of the free-agent WRs the front office acquired. 01/02/2012 - 3:58pm |
